ALTER EGO

Hey guys! This week I want to post about one of my favorite Tree House beers, Alter Ego. Tree House brewed this American IPA out of pure experimentation and to celebrate their 3rd anniversary. They basically mixed a bunch of random stuff and came out with Alter Ego. They mixed Mosaic and Amarillo hops, citrus, and then added this mixture to Julius. It's Julius' evil brother.

The reviews on Beer Advocate are all positive. Some describe this beer as citrusy and fruity- similar to Julius. Someone also described it as tasting like hard candy such as skittles, runts, and citrus. Skittles? I'm in.

Check out the detailed review on BEER ADVOCATE

CURIOSITY 22

Tree House Curiosity is a series of beers that started in March 2013. Every couple months Tree House will release a new beer Curiosity 1....Curisoity 2....Curiosity 3....(you get it). They are now up to Curiosity 22, which is phenomenal and their top rated Curiosity.

Curiosity 22 is an American IPA with 7% ABV. Tree House explains that this batch was inspired by several things, "a fresh lot of Amarillo hops, a renewed sense of focus for coaxing character out of our house yeast strain, and a wonderful piece of artwork by our dear friend Dean McKeever." Similar to LIGHTS ON Curiosity 22 also has notes of papaya as well as peach and apricot. This is the largest batch of Curiosity that has been ever made- and rightfully so. It's very VERY good.

Take a look at some reviews on BEER ADVOCATE

Check out the below review from beer guru Darwin- he describes this beer as "juciy fruit-like" and "peach candy". Enough said.

Hope you enjoyed, guys! Don't forget to also follow me on Twitter @BeerGuy177 & now on Pinterest Beer Guy

LIGHTS ON

Hope everyone had a great Halloween weekend and enjoyed some great beers...

This week I want to talk about my next favorite Tree House beer, Lights On. This  beer is an American Pale Ale and has a 5.6% ABV. Tree House describes this beer as having a fruity distinctive tasting profile of papaya, guava, and mango.

I'm still a beginner to craft beer and my pallet isn't quite as mature or experienced as most of the video reviews on Youtube that I post about. I can't tell you what papaya or guava even looks like, let alone smells. However, I can tell you that this is the best smelling Tree House beer I've had. Although fruity, it does have some "earthy" tones and a buddy of mine even refers to the taste as "pine tree bitterness."

I know I've probably confused you with the fruit and pine tree taste comparisons- just take my word for it and give it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Fun Fact: Tree House also makes a "Lights Out," although I've never tried it. Lights On has slightly better reviews on BEER ADVOCATE

Here are some additional reviews and comments about Lights On: RATE BEER

The above video is a very detailed review of Lights On from Nick, a Tree House enthusiast. Good stuff.

Has anyone tried Tree House yet??

What's on Tap this week?

Cheers!
